KIDS TEXTILE SCULPTURE COURSE

This creative program for children aged 10-18 enabled them to become part of a supportive and close creative group, to explore working in 3 dimensions, and to discover their unique creative voice through textile art. Students went on to exhibit in Island Quilts, Stitching and Beyond, and KIN Creative Space.

SEW TOGETHER

Sew Together, initially a partnership between Li-Ve Tasmania and Frangipani Fabrics, and now an ongoing priority for our business, offers Tasmanians with disabilities a chance to sew and boost mental well-being. Launched in late 2020, this program fosters personal resilience and community connections.

PARTNERSHIP WITH KINGBOROUGH COUNCIL

We have been collaborating with the Kingborough Council to bring a variety of sustainable sewing classes to the community in and around Kingston.

STUDENT TEXTILE COMPETITION

Every year a passionate group of school students from our sewing community take part in the Tasmanian Quilt Guild Student Textiles Awards. We work with Primary, Secondary, and Senior students  to take their skills further and explore their interest in making and designing quilts. We are proud to have seen our students exhibit in Island Quilts, and claim the top prizes each year.

SOUND TO SCULPTURE - ABILITY TO CREATE

Sound 2 Sculpture was a collaboration between City of Hobart and Frangipani Fabrics. In a one-off workshop, students aged 8 and up were guided through a process of brainstorming colours, textures, materials, shapes, and ideas in response to a sonic stimulus (a sound work created by Jon), to then craft a small soft sculpture. The sculptures were be displayed at the Ability to Create exhibition 2023.

STITCHING SANCTUARY

Stitching Sanctuary is a recent partnership with Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. Join us in making a difference this bushfire season by creating pouches for rescued wildlife. Anyone can take part from the comfort of their own home, or in our classes.
