Sew Anything Class Friday

Complete beginners welcome!

Come and sew those unfinished projects, or start a new project, in a friendly and relaxed environment. Sewing machines are welcome.

We are here to help you at any stage of your project, be it a bag, soft toy, clothing or a quilt, from designing, to planning and finishing! Morning tea included.

Rotary cutters, mats, rulers and irons are available for your use in the class area. Please let us know if you would like to borrow a sewing machine during class time.

Sewing sessions are held every Friday (except public holidays), from 10am-12:30pm.

Need some inspiration? Here are the projects we have available kits for (these are not limited - you can sew anything!)

1.  Nine-patch quilted cushion (for beginners).  This project will give you the fundamentals: skills in basic sewing machine knowledge, piecing, pinning, ironing, quilting and pivot turns.

Kit cost: $20.00 (includes charm squares and backing of their choice, plus thread and pellon).  Finished size 45cm square.  ONE-TWO LESSON PROJECT

2. Tote bag

A fully lined tote bag in two contrasting fabrics, perfect as a library or shopping bag. A super simple project but always with stylish results! The bag measures up as 28 x 32 cm tote and makes a great gift.

Kit cost: $30.80 (includes 70 cm and 40 cm of two fabrics). This is typically a ONE LESSON PROJECT.

3. Pencil roll

A pencil roll is another beginner-friendly project which will teach you the basics of machine sewing as well as how to sew buttons, pivot turns, topstitch, quilting techniques and iron-on pellon. A perfect project for the artist on the go, the finished pencil roll is 20 x 44 cm and can be rolled up to make a cosy home for all your drawing and writing implements.

Kit cost: $20.00 (includes fabrics, ribbon, button and thread). This is typically a ONE LESSON PROJECT.

4. Art Collage Purse

This project teaches you to craft your own unique fabric, as well as how to sew a zip, and quilting techniques. Makes a vibrant purse 28 x 17 cm - ideal as a pencil case, for storing bits and bobs, toiletries, makeup, haberdashery or anything you can think of, really!

Kit cost: $25.00 (includes fabric, zip and thread) TWO LESSON PROJECT.

5. Jeans Bag

The jeans bag is a funky way of repurposing old jeans, which you can bring in a pair of your own, or Frangipani Fabrics will supply them. Learn how to make a one-of-a-kind, fully lined handbag which is perfect for your library run or trip to the shops. Finished bag size varies. You'll learn skills in designing your own unique bag, making straps, gussets, and cutting fabric, as well as pinning and sewing straight lines and curves.

Kit cost: $30.00 (includes jeans, fabric and thread) ONE - TWO LESSON PROJECT.
