SEW TOGETHER

Sew Together, initially a partnership between Li-Ve Tasmania and Frangipani Fabrics, and now an ongoing priority for our business, offers Tasmanians with disabilities a chance to sew and boost mental well-being. Launched in late 2020, this program fosters personal resilience and community connections.

Sewing has proven mental health benefits, but for many, it's inaccessible due to costs and lack of facilities. Sew Together breaks these barriers with free, skill-level-friendly in-person workshops. Participants create satisfying projects in an inclusive, adaptable, and supportive environment.

Across our Sew Together workshops since 2020 we have had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful, charismatic, and inspiring participants. As the program has become more established we have been able to teach returning participants and see their skills and their confidence grow – that’s what it’s all about.

The program has been both crowd-funded and awarded support from the City of Hobart. You can donate to the ongoing program by visiting our Chuffed Page, adding a donation when you buy something from our website, or in our Sew Together donation jar in store.

We have hosted these workshops in various accessible locations around nipaluna/Hobart. The limited physical accessibility of our permanent classroom forced us to innovate and adapt to a mobile classroom for community opportunities like these.

Do you have an idea for a project? Our mobile classroom is ready and adaptable – we’d love to hear from you and collaborate on something special.
