The Projects: 

1.  Nine-patch Cushion Cover (for beginners) by Briony Alderslade

This is the first project that students will sew.  Crafted with love and creativity, this project allows your child to to unleash their imagination as they piece together colourful fabric squares to create a one-of-a-kind cushion cover. 

Skills Include: basic sewing machine knowledge, pin basting, sewing straight seams, pressing with an iron, quilting and pivot turns. 

Kit cost: $40

(includes charm squares and backing of their choice, plus thread and pellon).  Finished size 45cm square.

2. Lined Autumn Poncho

Embrace the cozy charm of autumn with our lined autumn poncho sewing project! Perfect for sewists of all levels, this delightful project combines style and comfort in one fabulous garment.

Crafted from warm, soft fabrics and lined for extra coziness, our autumn poncho is the epitome of seasonal chic. Whether you're strolling through colorful foliage or enjoying crisp evenings by the fire, this poncho will keep your child snug and stylish.

3.  Patchwork Snakey by Briony Alderslade

🐍 Slither into the world of whimsical sewing with our Patchwork Snake project! 

Using a variety of fabric scraps of their choice, your child will piece together a cuddly and captivating snake that's as unique as it is adorable. Kit comes with snake safety eyes.

4.  Fabric Fox Scarf by Pretty Prudent

🦊 Step into the enchanting world of woodland whimsy with our Fabric Fox Scarf sewing project! This delightful endeavor combines sewing, painting, and embroidery to create a charming accessory that's as adorable as it is cozy.

Crafted from soft, plush fabric, our fox scarf is as huggable as it is stylish. With a painted nose, embroidered whiskers, and a soft toweling tummy, this scarf is full of character and personality.

Class Details:

• Who: Children aged 8-17
• What: Kids Sewing Class - ideal for beginners and experienced crafters
• Cost: $60 per lesson (Please note: class costs DO NOT include fabric or kits, prices for these vary and are listed below)
• Enrolment: Flexible - sign up for as many classes as you'd like. We recommend at least two classes to complete a project.
• Projects: All projects are available every day of the program. Beginners start with the Nine-patch Cushion Cover before moving on to other projects
• Tutors: Our exceptionally skilled and approachable tutors specialise in tailoring their teaching to meet each child's unique level, fostering both creativity and skill. They prioritise understanding individual learning styles and needs, ensuring a personalised educational experience that empowers young learners to thrive.
• Additional Info: Sewing supplies and irons provided during class. Sewing machine hire available for $5. Children will choose from curated kits; fabric and supplies must be purchased from us.

• Sewing Machines: Elevate your child's sewing experience by using a quality sewing machine equipped with speed control, needle-down capability, and full stitch length and width adjustment. All machines in our classroom are ideal for learning. If your home sewing machine lacks these features, consider renting one of ours for just $5.00 per lesson. Unsure if your machine is suitable? Reach out to us for guidance. 

  Sewing machines without these features are usually not strong enough to sew thicker projects like bags and quilts, tend to jam and come unthreaded constantly through the lesson, and slow your child's progress.  

Enrolment & Accessibility:

• Enrolment: All classes must be paid for upon enrolment. Kits can be paid for on the day.
• Accessibility: Our current location has stairs and limited accessibility. For inquiries about accessibility, please call us.
• Mobile Classroom: We have a mobile classroom for wheelchair-accessible venues. Keep an eye out for those classes if our North Hobart store isn't accessible for you.

Tutors Briony, Rose, Faith, Emma

Accessibility: While we strive for an accessible sewing environment, our current location has a classroom situated up a flight of stairs. Regrettably, the small bathroom is downstairs and not wheelchair accessible. For inquiries regarding classroom accessibility, please contact us.

Mobile Classroom: We operate a mobile classroom, making stops at venues with wheelchair accessibility. Keep an eye out for these classes if our North Hobart store is inaccessible for you.

Finishing Projects

While we take every effort to anticipate the amount of lessons needed per project, every person is different, and therefore, we only provide estimates for each project.   

For students that have attended previous classes - all of these projects will teach you new skills to build on your existing knowledge.  

NO SHOW POLICY

All Frangipani Fabrics Classes are limited to a certain number of class participants.  You do need to give us notice if you wish to cancel your class.

If you are unable to attend the class that you have booked, you must give us

1 WEEKS’ NOTICE.

Failure to do this means that your fee has been forfeited.

Last minute cancellations will also be considered as No Shows
